When you haven’t written in a while, it can be less than pleasant trying to get back into the swing of it. I’ve sat on posts and ideas for posts for rather a long time, relatively speaking, and here I go putting even myself off with a navel gazing rant. Whoops.
Since I’m apparently incapable of NOT talking about myself (ME, ME, ME, ME, ME…and did I mention I?) …what have I been up to, anyway?

1. The theatre, as both audience and backstage member. Applying panstick to the average male face is not exactly glamorous, but you can’t beat getting to share in the camaraderie…and let’s face it, it’s possibly the only time you will be thanked for undertaking such a task.
It was certainly a very different experience to the ballet. Full of Swarovski, tulle and some seriously risqué leotards, yes, but somehow, those dancers made positions that would be eye wateringly painful (not to mention wholly indecent) on the average human being look like the easiest thing in the world…and elegant, too. So jealous.
2. Transitioning to a middle class farmer type, courtesy of a new Barbour jacket. It arrived perhaps a week or two late for the really cold snap, but I can forgive it that. Previously, I’ve resorted to borrowing a seriously heavy waxed jacket for Reading Festival and Red Hot Chili Peppers this June. Evidence below.

Anyway, this jacket is gloriously comfortable and lightweight, although the brown colour has certainly posed an interesting conundrum to my all-black wardrobe. Next up, the matching collar.
3. Continuing the theme of theatrics by hitting the screen, both silver and smaller, as much as possible. Too much dry reading makes Polly a crazy lady, and shows like Absolutely Fabulous and How I Met Your Mother are absolute godsends.
4. Talking of reading…So. Many. Magazines. Somehow (I can’t think how…), I have amassed four running subscriptions: Elle, Vogue, InStyle and Vanity Fair. Elle is on its way out, but as for the rest? I think Don Quijote will have to take a back seat, if only for a night or two.
Aside from that, like a good 99% of student bloggers, I’ve been very busy and overwhelmingly sleepy. C’est la vie, and with a few notable exceptions, I would have it no other way.

I had such a desperate need for some AbFab out here, that I ordered the set from Amazon and it’s coming out with Nick in March. Now I just need to hold out until then…
